Teens

We believe our young people should have fun at church every week and at the Chapel we make this a priority along with their safety. All who lead our young people’s work have been Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checked and have regular Safeguarding Training and our Safeguarding Policy is updated and in place.

We strongly believe that young people are a key part of our fellowship and God can meet with and minister not only to them but through them. We also believe our young people should not just know about God but know God personally. The Chapel actively encourages our youth to participate and be involved in the services.

We have a fantastic team involved in running our youth work at the Chapel. We have a team of trained leaders and helpers. We also have several members of our preaching team who come into the youth sessions to contribute in discussions, and increase the integration of the youth across the entire Chapel family.

Our 11 plus group meet every week in the’ youth chalet’ at the Chapel. We follow the Youth For Christ material which is bible based, and age appropriate. It covers biblical teaching with common real life age applicable issues for the youth to unpack. The youth are encouraged to participate in the first part of the main Chapel service before leaving for their session. Several budding musicians are a valued part of the worship team. We have a Family Service every half-term that our young people get involved in by helping to plan and take part in, from music, reading, drama and preaching.

Every other Sunday evening we have an evening youth event called Youth@7. From 7.00 to 8.30pm. This group consists of a mix of youth from across the area, and different churches. We meet at the Chapel for a more relaxed social time, with games and table tennis, snacks, hot chocolate and s’mores in the BBQ Kota. We often have camp fires, and outdoor games in the fabulous grounds here. We end with a time and prayer and a short bible based reflection. We are connected with the Reading Youth Network and have been to several joint youth events across Reading, meeting with other Christian youth groups for times of fun, worship and fellowship together.
