WHO WE SUPPORT

Who we support

A young patient receiving care at St George's Clinic in Baghdad, Iraq, which is fully funded by Mosaic Middle East.

We believe it is right to share generously what the Lord gives us and to put our money to use in ways that he directs us, as we pray for his leading. In principle we aim to support local Christian mission, and overseas mission as well as individuals, as they come to our attention, but we do this on the basis of what we define as relational giving. That is, we choose to engage with the mission by developing a personal relationship with those who are active in those ministries. The way we do this is to include someone from the mission concerned on our Guest Speaker's list to share in the ministry into our congregation, and in turn be honoured by our hospitality.

By this we hope to develop enduring friendships which encourage mutual prayer and encouragement, benefitting everyone including the mission objective. Currently these are:

  • Mosaic Middle East: ministry to Christian refugees from persecution living in Iraq and Jordan.
  • Together in Mission: the Chapel fellowship was key to the setting up Together in Mission (TiM), a local charity founded on Christian values, aiming to be practically involved in serving our community. Since 2009 TiM has established a befriending service, a community café in Burghfield Common and a school pastor initiative.
  • Sierra Leone Mission: as part of the Countess of Huntingdon’s Connexion, the Sierra Leone Mission supports its sister organisation in Sierra Leone, operating its own group of churches, schools, children’s home and clinic, principally in the Freetown peninsular. The link goes back over roughly 200 years.
  • Simon Hayles of Youth With A Mission (YWAM): Simon went from us to join YWAM after university and is based in Cambridge at the School of Biblical Studies.

In addition, we give one-off 'love gifts' as needs are brought to our attention, after prayerful assessment of the nature of that need.
