Chapel Weekend 17th & 18th October 2015

Closer to God – More effective for God

A weekend designed to challenge and encourage us to draw closer to God and to each other. There was  a series of three talks by John Williams, interspersed with worship and opportunities for prayer ministry. Lots of food, including a hog roast, games and entertainment!  Here’s a report on the weekend:

“It felt timely for us to gather together for a Chapel Weekend this Autumn, something we haven’t done for quite some time. With a large team working hard in the background two marquees were erected in the woods giving us room for 120 to eat, play, sing and be entertained together. Our guest speaker, John Williams, gave three deeply inspiring, encouraging and provocative talks on the relationship between us and our God, finishing the series on Sunday morning. In between the talks cakes disappeared at an astonishing rate, a Volleyball marathon threatened to see not a few members meeting up again in A&E and we took time to simply relax and chat. Saturday evening saw over 40 guests – neighbours, family, friends – join us in the beautifully lit marquees where all feasted on the superb Hog Roast and choice of puds. After supper an Illusionist dazzled with tricks and humour before the evening was topped off with a Union Jack waving singalong straight from the Proms – blended with a dash of Disney and splash of Rodgers and Hammerstein, voices soared before eventually surrendering to a long and beautiful day. The celebration continued on Sunday morning where the warmth, unity and service to each other has set the pace for our future events”.
