Young People

Our youth worker, Libby, and a team of parents coordinate youth work at the chapel and in the local area. Our youth work is roughly divided into three areas: Sunday mornings, schools work, and events. On Sunday mornings, the 11+s meet twice a month during the service for fellowship and discipleship using the ‘Lumen’ Youth for Christ resource and there’s a family service every half term that the youth help plan and put on. The other Sundays, they can join the Kids for Christ 7-11’s group (which runs every week) or stay in the service where they are discipled to explore their vocation to various ministries in the Chapel. We have an early years Sunday school facility for our under 7’s each week. The 0-11’s groups use the Scripture Union Bible based age appropriate Sunday school teachings.

We support bible clubs at Silchester and Mortimer primary schools, and the CU at The Willink. Along with School Pastors, we also visit Y6 students at primary schools across the area in the summer term to help with the transition process to The Willink.  We are always looking for opportunities to support other pre-existing schools work, so email Libby if you know of openings elsewhere.

We have a range of events throughout the year, including our Holiday Bible Club (in the summer holidays), Y6+7 campfire, Light Party, Bonfire Night, Christmas Crafts, Nativity Service, and joint worship events with Tadley Youth Church, St. Luke’s Pamber Heath and Christian Outreach in Newbury Schools. We are also exploring starting a Youth Alpha programme and special events throughout the year.

Get in touch with us – we’re always looking for more opportunities to share God’s love with the world around in a practical way.
